When you meet with your Funeral Director they will explain the various options to you and it is important that you take your time to choose what is best for you, your family and the person who has sadly died.
If appropriate, your Funeral Director would pass your details to me to make contact with you. Or if you know a celebrant you would like to use, you can inform them you already have someone in mind.
As your celebrant I would write a ceremony that was focussed on the life of your loved one. Their life story, their achievements, their likes and dislikes, their passions, hobbies and interests. Their career, family, friends, special memories and the things that were important to them.
I can incorporate readings, music, poetry, song lyrics, words from other family members or friends, dedications by children – the ceremony would be your way of saying the very best goodbye. A celebration of life.
Sometimes, those we love, leave us in sudden or tragic circumstances and on this occasion, I would make sure the ceremony reflected the difficulty of coming to terms with such a sad loss.
A celebrant led funeral is totally centred around the person you have lost. It is a time to reflect on their life, remember the reasons they meant so much to you and say a special and heartfelt goodbye.
I feel that writing and conducting a funeral ceremony as your celebrant is a privilege.
