People ask me all the time why I changed career in 2020 from being a radio presenter to become a celebrant.

When I decided that being a radio presenter was not going to be a career that would see me into retirement (for a variety of reasons), I looked at what I loved about my job:

* Meeting people
* Interviewing and talking to them
* Writing about what they said
* Public speaking

Those four things are the key skills of a celebrant. If you then add in empathy, kindness, care and compassion you have a great celebrant.

I’m a people person. I love meeting people, hearing their stories, asking them questions and learning things about them. You never know what kind of a life a person has had until you take the time to chat properly to them or to their loved ones.

Celebrants write ceremonies for people. We are a part of your life at times of celebration and at times of great sadness. It is a privilege to play a part in those key moments.
